Life at LBM

What’s it like?

Our office is centrally located in Islington, approximately a mile north of the City of London and directly opposite Angel station on the Northern Line. The office is light and open plan with a roof terrace and some pretty amazing views of London! Islington is a vibrant borough, with many excellent shops and restaurants conveniently located moments from the office.

Restaurants – Islington is a magnet for excellent restaurants. There are many chain restaurants and also good local independent restaurants. The ground floor of our office building is a Bills restaurant.   Pret is moments away from the office. Within five minutes walk are numerous pubs, restaurants and fast food outlets.

Shopping – within two minutes walk of the office are several large supermarkets (Sainsburys, Waitrose and M&S) and the Angel Central shopping mall which has a variety of chain stores (including Gap, H&M, French Connection and Paperchase), restaurants and a cinema. Camden Passage is renowned for its quaint antique and boutique shops.

Fitness – there are two Virgin Active gyms and a Fitness First gym located near the office, along with several pilates and yoga centres. We also have our own fledgling five –a-side football team. In summer 2016 we are doing the Three Peaks Challenge for charity along with a local law firm and insurance broker.

Culture – Islington has traditionally been famous for pub theatres and there are still two of these operating near the office today. The Almeida theatre is 10 minutes walk from the office and the O2 Academy and a Vue multi-screen cinema are located in Angel Central five minutes’ walk from the office. The Business Design Centre is a conference and exhibition centre, hosting 300 events a year.

Below are comments from some of our staff about what life is like at LBM…

‘Having only recently moved to London from the Channel Islands prior to starting at London Block Management, my knowledge of the city increased hugely in a matter of weeks due to the vast amount of properties the firm manage throughout London and the surrounding areas. That was nearly a year and a half ago – I cannot believe how quickly time has flown!  My role at the company involves assisting one of the Associate Directors on a day to day basis. This role is fast paced, dynamic and challenging as well as being thoroughly enjoyable and exciting due to the fact that no two days are ever the same.

It is difficult to pinpoint my favourite part of the job, however knowing that you are making a difference to people’s homes provides an exceptionally high level of job satisfaction. Myself and the rest of the team are constantly working on many exciting projects and once complete regularly receive positive feedback from residents, showing the work we do is highly appreciated. For example, we are currently working on many major works projects (both external and internal) throughout our portfolio. Seeing the outcome of these projects is continuously rewarding and reflects the level of service that London Block Management pride themselves in achieving.’

Cassie, Assistant

I have worked at London Block Management for 7 months and I genuinely look forward to coming to work every day.

The support network at LBM is great; the department structure is clear and I have been given the means to better myself, develop my career, my client relationships and management skills.

Every member of the team is approachable from Assistants to Directors and with meaningful reviews and feedback I am encouraged to develop the skills and access the support I need to take on more challenging roles and projects. I have been given the autonomy that I need to develop and I always feel my opinions are valued.

The concept of teamwork is very much at the centre of LBM’s ethos, with everyone pulling together. This creates a really good working atmosphere which it is rare to come across.
